Welcome, everyone. Thanks for clicking on my blog. Today, we’re going to be reviewing one of Colourette’s latest releases: the Colourette Lip Screen, a lip product for the summertime that claims to be both moisturizing and sun-protecting. Do you need this product? Find out more in my review.

Colourette Lip Screen Review

Sunscreen lip products are one of those that are important, yet often neglected. I have never tried a sunscreen lip product, since I didn’t know why it is important and there are not a lot of brands selling SPF-based lip products. But it all changed, when I bought Colourette’s Lip Screen.

Is Lip Screen Good?

To start off, the Lip Screen comes in an orange squeezy tube. First of all, it’s Colourette’s signature color. And second of all, it’s your typical lip gloss packaging. It doesn’t really bother me that much, though the product dispensing isn’t the most consistent. Considering that it sometimes can release huge amount of the product or has the potential to leak. But thankfully, It hasn’t leaked on me yet.

Moving on to the actual product. The Colourette Lip Screen is light-weight, non-sticky nor is it stringy. Those are the three things I can say about the product, and the three things I really like about it. It’s formulated to be a hydrating lip product that isn’t too heavy on the lips, but is still very hydrating and nourishing. I find it to be similar to their Colourdrip but less watery and just has UV filters in it. In terms of pigmentation, it does have a decent color pay-off. This results in the product being similar to those of a tinted lip balm but with the formulation of a squalane-based lip oil.

To add, I also noticed that my dark lips have lighten a tad bit from the one week of product usage. This might be attributed to the Lip Screen, considering I don’t use any other suncreen product on the lip.

What’s In Lip Screen?

Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your preference, it does contain fragrance. Which doesn’t bother me in lip products, unless it’s too overwhelming that it ends up leaving me nauseated. For this product, I like the fragrance because it’s a subtle vanilla scent flavored for the shade Tan. Also, it masks the sunscreen scent/taste of the product. Though I do notice a slight sunscreen taste to it that’s a little bitter, it is noticeable if you put a lot of lip screen on your lips. But, it’s expected for a lip sunscreen to taste some remnants of its UV filters. Still, it doesn’t make me hate the product.

Also, I like how this product by Colourette is both useful as a sunscreen and as a treatment for the lips. It contains five UV Filters for either UVA or UVB rays, those being: Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Homosalate, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Ethyhexyl Salicylate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane. This results to the Colourette’s Lip Screen having an SPF rating of 20 Pa +++. For this reason, it makes the product a go-to when going outside during the summer or during times of prolonged sun exposure.

Finally, it also contains very nourishing ingredients, such as plant-based Squalane and Camellia Japonica Seed Oil. Since, Squalane is an excellent emollient and hydrator. It mimics the skin’s sebum that can act to soften and smooth the skin. Meanwhile, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil is rich in antioxidants and polyphenols that nourish the lips.

Verdict

Overall, I would rate this product an 8/10 based on its ingredients, formulation and overall user experience. It’s a really good product and I’m living for it.
