Before I start, I would like to say that I really like toners. But not all of them are created equally, some toners result in further dehydrated skin. While, others do the exact opposite and rehydrate my skin without irritating it. This product by Dear, Klairs, the Supple Preparation Unscented Toner, is one of the best toner for dehydrated skin. I can say this because I’ve been using it for more than 2 years (since 2022) and I’ve been loving it ever since. And today. I’m here to share my thoughts on one of my favorite toners of all time.

What makes it good for dehydrated skin?

Before I start I have to say that I live and breathe this product, which is how much I love it. From the ingredients to its texture and the way it feels on my skin, I adore it. To give some background, I do have oily skin. Whenever my skin barrier gets damaged, my skin gets dehydrated and sensitized. I am 22 years old, meaning I have post adolescent skin. With my skin type out of the way, we can finally begin.

First of all Dear, Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner comes in a plastic container, with a silver cap with the company logo embedded on top. In my experience, the product does not leak from the container, even when traveling. I also find the plastic to be really sturdy and won’t crack or develop a dent when it falls. It also contains 180 mL of product, which contains more than your average toner that is usually 100 to 150 mL of products only. I found that this toner last me from 2 to 3 months with regular use.

I find the Dear, Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner to be suitable and compatible to the humid Philippine weather, whether you’re in the cold dry mountains of Baguio City or the hot valley of Tuguegarao. This toner will definitely be to your liking. It is lightweight upon application and absorbs easily to the skin. I don’t find it as heavy or sticky as other hydrating toner. And as an oily skin person, I don’t find it icky on top of my skin when I apply it.

Why I love this toner for dehydrated skin

The Dear, Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner I found to be extremely nourishing and moisturizing on the skin. Since, it is said to be essential oil-free, balances pH level, vegan friendly and is deeply moisturizing. It has high concentration of Licorice Root Extract and Centella Asiatica, which are very soothing and hydrating ingredients.

Licorice Root Extract being the most prevalent of the ingredients of the toner, making it very calming and non-irritating. Considering that Licorice’s primary active compound called glycyrrhizin has anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and antioxidant properties to it. In addition, it also has a decent concentration of Panthenol and Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract or more commonly known as aloe vera, which leave the skin hydrated and plump even further. And with the lack of scent, which could be irritating to some people, this makes this toner a great choice for those with sensitive or sensitized skin.

Finally, the Dear, Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner also boast Beta-Glucan and Lipidure in the form of Polyquaternium-51 in their formula. I honestly love that they included these in the product, since Beta-Glucan and Lipidure are both moisturizing ingredients and both fight irritation against bacteria on the skin. Considerinng, Lipidure is a skin-like polymer that is used in cosmetics, which has numerous benefits, such as: Inhibition of bacteria, prevents skin from drying and fights against bacteria on the skin. Meanwhile, Beta Glucan is apolysaccharide known for boosting the skin barrier, being an antioxidant and smoothening the skin. And these are constituent of the formula my skin has grown to love. Hydrating even the most dehydrated skin with this toner.

Overall, I would rate this product a 5/5 due to its ingredients, formulation and overall user experience. Though, I would not recommend it to those who find it too pricey.
