Lip Maxx Review
I was really intrigued when GRWM Cosmetics released their Lip Maxx collection. Liquid lip balms with menthol are a common thing, and I was wondering what their take on it would be. Is it a soothing lip balm, would it be a plumping gloss or would it just be a tinted lip-oil? So when I finally had the money, I bought one of the shades of GRWM’s Lip Maxx.
Is Lip Maxx Good?
To start off, the Lip Maxx comes in a plastic tube with a screw cap. It’s their standard packaging design with their G logo on top of the cap with a rose gold band around the rim. Also, I got my Lip Maxx in the shade Tto-tto, which is described as a muted nude rose with neutral undertone and is named after a rescue cat.
Moving on to the actual product. The GRWM Cosmetic’s Lip Maxx is a light-weight lip balm that is extremely nourishing and hydrating to the lips. I find it to be very balmy and thick in terms of formulation, but it’s not heavy on the lips at all. In terms of hydration, I find it to be very moisturizing and soothing. But its strength doesn’t really rely on giving hydration, but on sealing and preventing moisture loss from the lips. This is why I don’t only see this as a liquid lip balm, but it’s also a potential sleeping mask in my opinion. I’ve tried it as a lip mask, and I woke up with soft lips.

In terms of pigmentation, the product is decently pigmented. It’s not super opaque like a solid lip balm, but more tame and pigmented like a lip oil. Since I noticed that the 2-toned lips of mine still peek through the pigment. Despite this, I really adore the product and the shade I’ve got. The shade Tto-tto comes of more of a rosy nude on my two-toned lips. Although it is a liquid lip balm, I don’t find it to be extremely glossy, just a tad shiny. Which is fine, I bought a lip balm, not a lip oil.
Overall, I do adore this product. It’s a liquid lip balm with menthol. Which, if you live in a tropical country or experience hot weather, is very satisfying to apply due to the cooling sensation it provides. It also works well as a makeup/skincare due to it’s pigment and hydrating properties.
What’s In Lip Maxx?

This does contain fragrance. Which doesn’t bother me in lip products, unless it’s too overwhelming that it ends up leaving me nauseated like I said before. In this case, the fragrance is extremely subtle, like close to non-existent. The product has a tinge of sweetness to it, but is overwhelmed by the scent and taste of menthol. Resulting to this product tasting slightly bitter and the fragrance does not help at all.
Going into the ingridients, I, in particular, find it not too heavy on the lips despite having mineral oil as the top ingredient of this product, which is an occlusive. For those who don’t know, occlusives are ingredients in cosmetics that are meant to seal in moisture and prevent moisture loss by creating a protective layer to the skin; in this case, the lips.
It also contains menthol, which is soothing in terms of user-experience, but as could be irritating to some. Menthol could irritate cracked, wounded or damaged lips, and this product contains a decent amount of menthol. And this is something to look out for, but not neccessarily a turn off for me. In contrast, this product does contain Grape Seed Oil, which is an anti-oxidant rich ingredient and also plentiful in Vitamin-E content. This means that this product can overall contribute to healthier lips and improve its appearance.
Pros
- Hydrating
- Nourishing
- Light-weight
- Non-Sticky
Cons
- Can irritate lips due to menthol
- Taste bitter
Verdict
Overall, I would rate this product an 7/10 basing on its ingredients, formulation and overall user experience. It’s a good product, with some things I don’t like.
